Eye Exam and Vision Tests

Eye Exam and Vision Tests

At Pandit Clinic, we understand how important eyesight is for our patients. It won’t be an exaggeration if we say that amongst our five senses the eyes are the most important ones.

About Eye Exam & Vision Tests

Eyes are our most important assets. Taking good care of the eyes is absolutely essential for living a full life. We rely on our eyes to do everything from navigation to mundane activities and of course work.

At Pandit Clinic, we understand how important eyesight is for our patients. It won’t be an exaggeration if we say that amongst our five senses the eyes are the most important ones.

Unfortunately, most people neglect their eyesight. In majority of the cases, many vision problems are left undetected and untreated, resulting in vision loss. Early detection of eye condition is the best way of minimizing vision loss. Regular eye examination from a qualified eye specialist will be the best thing you do for your eyes.

Eye examination and Vision tests are two different things.

Vision tests are performed to check how well you can see and read. It will also determine if you need to correct your vision with the use of spectacles. Your eye doctor will prescribe glasses for you if they are required. While choosing your spectacle frame, remember to choose one that is sturdy rather than cheap. Also, remember that it should fit snugly rather than being loose or tight. Since your vision depends on them, choose glasses with care as well. It is advisable to invest in a good pair of glasses and spectacles and if you are from Pune, there are many reputed and trustworthy optical shops in the city for you to choose from.

Vision tests do not check the general health of your eyes including your peripheral vision, depth perception, colour perception or ability to perceive contrast. It is therefore recommended to perform a complete Eye Examination from a qualified eye specialist once a year.

What is a comprehensive Eye Exam?

At Pandit Clinic, we conduct thorough eye exams. Here’s a list of steps that take place during an eye exam with Dr. Jayashree Pandit:

  • We will ask you to inform us about your medical history and determine whether any of those factors (for example diabetes) will affect your vision.
  • We will first put you through a vision test (see details below).
  • Once the vision test is done, we will conduct a small test to check your eye pressure. This is done by the Optometrist using a high-end machine called the Tonometer. This is essential to detect any early signs of Glaucoma or other vision related problems.
  • After the Eye Pressure is checked, we will dilate your eyes using eye drops. The dilation may take 10-15 minutes.
  • When your eyes are dilated Dr. Jayashree will check your eyes using different lights and microscopic instruments. This helps us to understand the health of your eyes on the inside (for example the position of the retina, optic nerve, etc.)
  • Based on this thorough examination you will be given a prescription for glasses and any other medication as necessary.

What is a Vision Test?

At Pandit Clinic, Dr. Jayashree Pandit relies on the Snellen eye chart for vision testing. It is the most trusted form of vision testing. Along with the chart, she also uses the latest machinery and instruments to ensure that the results from the eye tests are 100% accurate.

  • You will be seated 20 feet from the machine-based eye chart
  • You will be seated 20 feet from the machine-based eye chart
